The system now supports Unicode encoding. It is possible to specify grammars in UTF-8 encoding so that for example East Asian languages can be processed.  Likewise, database entries can be in Unicode.

The new release contains yet another set of bug fixes, even more improved type checking of the specification files, a slightly modified syntax of the specification files and MSVC7 support.

The new release contains a set of bug fixes, improved type checking of the specification files, and the possibility to specify restricted sub grammars for speech recognition when processing answers (see step 6 of the tutorial). Also, SAPI 5.1 and SAPI 4.0 compliant speech synthesizers are supported now.

We are pleased to announce the beta release of the Ariadne Open Source Dialogue System. The System contains all necessary components to build a spoken dialogue system on your Windows desktop (using SAPI 5.1). The system has been developed at the Interactive System Laboratories at Carnegie Mellon University, USA and University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
